EMCO’s Areas of Activity
On The International Scene
EMCO predominantly acts for shipowners, shipmanagers, P&I Clubs, Underwriters, foreign lawyers, charterers and traders on a world-wide basis. In doing so it offers a comprehensive range of services, dependent upon the tasks required. This ranges from the provision of day-to-day advice in relation to, inter alia, drafting of contracts, organisation of corporate structures, ship & yacht sale and purchase and registration, Bill of Lading and charterparty disputes, as well as marine insurance.
A relatively new service provided by EMCO to the banking industry is in the provision of ship management consultancy, overseeing and monitoring the daily activities and operational expenses (Opex) of a shipowner’s fleet on behalf of the mortgagee banks. Likewise, risk assessment and technical consultancy features greatly within EMCO’s overall consultancy work, including supporting shipowners and shipmanagers in monitoring and auditing the effectiveness of the ISM Code systems on board their ships.
EMCO is also heavily involved in the conduct of arbitrations, particularly London arbitrations.
On The Local Scene
Equally, EMCO’s particular strength and concentration on Arab countries finds it assisting shipowners, shipmanagers, charterers, P&I Clubs, H&M Underwriters and other insurers, in addition to foreign lawyers, on a daily basis in relation to claims, casualties and other problematic issues which they may be facing in Arab countries.
This includes, amongst many others, dealing with ship arrests, surveys, cargo claims, damage to terminal installations, pollution and customs fines. In particular, EMCO is often used to coordinate casualties that may occur in territorial waters of Arab countries.
Although EMCO is active in most of the 22 Arab countries that exist, it is heavily involved in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, U.A.E., Algeria, Morocco and East African countries.
EMCO’s clients receive the very best combination of local on the ground expertise, in addition to a prompt, honest and professional service, providing good sound practical advice when needed most. Furthermore, EMCO offers:
- No language or cultural barriers – fluency in Arabic, French, English, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Swedish
