IMAD A. ELIAS – Managing Director
|
|
Imad is the founder and Managing Director of Elias Marine Consultants. Having started his career at Ince & Co in London, he has over 20 years of experience in shipping, commercial and insurance disputes. He holds a Masters in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton and is the winner of the 1985 Maxwell Law Prize and 1989 Law Society Sheffield Prize. Imad is predominantly engaged in arbitrations and dispute management on behalf of shipowners and their P&I and H&M underwriters. Imad also acts as a part-time arbitrator and is an LMAA supporting member. Imad holds both Lebanese and British nationality.

RIAD KARAM – Deputy Managing Director
|
|
Riad is the Deputy Managing Director & Divisional Manager - Risk & Claims Division. He has over 30 years experience in the shipping industry having started his career working in ship operation and management of vessels owned by the Elias family. Subsequently, prior to joining Elias Marine Consultants in December 1995, he worked as a ship agent in Egypt for 8 years where he acquired hands-on experience in ports and customs procedures and regulations. Riad works predominantly for shipowners and P&I Clubs for all types of matters in Syria, where he was born and lived. Riad holds both Lebanese and Syrian nationality.

ELIE MEDLEJ – Divisional Manager
|
|
Elie is the Divisional Manager – Non-Contentious Division. Having studied Lebanese Law at Université Saint Joseph in Beirut, Elie completed a Masters degree in International and Commercial Law at the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom. He joined Elias Marine Consultants in July 1995 almost immediately after graduating and has been involved in most matters handled by the company, but with a particular emphasis on non-contentious cases such as ship & yacht sale and purchase, ship & yacht registration and ship finance. Elie also head’s the company’s Corporate section. He is fluent in Arabic, French and English and handles most of the company’s work in North African Arab countries where the use of his French proves extremely useful. Elie holds both Lebanese and Cypriot nationality.

KOULA LOUCA – Deputy Divisional Manager
|
|
Koula joined Elias Marine Consultants in December 2000 and is a Senior Claims Executive. Koula was born and completed her studies in the United Kingdom, moving to Cyprus in 1999 after graduating from the University of Leicester where she obtained an LL.B (honours) degree in Law. Prior to joining Elias Marine Consultants, Koula worked for a local law firm in Cyprus where she gained litigation experience under the Cyprus legal system. Koula deals mostly with contentious cases ranging from ship arrests and debt recovery to handling FD&D disputes and arbitrations. Koula is fluent in both English and Greek and holds both British and Cypriot nationality.

AGATHA SAVVIDOU – Office Manager
|
|
Agatha joined Elias Marine Consultants in 1997 and has since studied and passed the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers exams as well as obtaining a certificate in Marine Claims. In her role as the Personal Assistant to the Managing Director & Office Manager, she also assists in the conduct of cases and disputes handled by the Managing Director. As such, Agatha also acts as a Claims Assistant to the Managing Director. Born in South Africa, Agatha re-located to Cyprus in 1993. Agatha speaks Greek and English and holds both South African and Cypriot nationality.

MARC CARAMONDANIS – Technical Manager
|
|
Marc is the company’s Technical Manager & Senior Marine Consultant Surveyor. After spending a period at sea on Tankers and Passenger RoRo Ferries, he subsequently attended the World Maritime University studying Technical Management in Shipping. Upon graduation in 1988, Marc joined Carenco Surveyors in Limassol as a Ship Surveyor and then joined Elias Marine Consultants in January 2004.
As our Senior Marine Surveyor, Marc performs inspections and surveys predominantly on behalf of shipowners, H&M and P&I underwriters. As a marine engineer, Marc is a member of The Institute of Marine Engineering Science & Technology; The International Institute of Marine Surveyors and The Cyprus Safety & Health Association. Marc speaks English, Greek and French and holds French and Cypriot nationality.

RONY DERGHAM – Senior Claims Executive
|
|
Rony joined Elias Marine Consultants in January 2002 and is a Senior Claims Executive. He has gained broad experience in all types of cases and has been predominately responsible for arranging surveys for pre-purchase inspections, insurance condition surveys and cargo condition surveys. Rony has become extremely close to the company’s shipowner clients due to his almost daily contact with them on loss prevention and risk assessment measures as well as daily H&M, P&I, FD&D and claims issues. Rony is also heavily involved in assisting Riad on matters in Syria. During his time at the company, Rony has also studied and passed the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers exams. Rony speaks Arabic, English and French and holds Lebanese nationality.

CHRISTINA KYNIGOPOULOS – Claims Executive
|
|
Christina joined Elias Marine Consultants as a Claims Assistant in February 2009, having qualified with a Master of Laws degree (LLM) at Stockholm University, specializing in maritime and transportation law and marine insurance. Christina works in the Contentious Division as a Claims Executive where she deals in maritime and commercial disputes and arbitrations. Christina is fluent in English, Greek and Swedish and holds both Swedish and Cypriot nationality.

ARIS MOSCHOPOULOS - Claims Executive
|
|
Aris joined Elias Marine Consultants in April 2012 and is a qualified Greek lawyer admitted to the Thessaloniki Bar. Following completion of his Law Degree at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he gained a Masters in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton, specialising in Carriage of Goods by Sea, Marine Insurance, Admiralty Law, Commercial Conflicts of Laws and International Litigation. As a Claims Executive he is involved in maritime and commercial disputes and arbitrations. Aris speaks English and Greek and holds Greek nationality.

ELIE SALLOUM - Claims Executive
|
|
Elie joined Elias Marine Consultants as a Claims Executive in October 2011. He holds a Petroleum Engineering Degree, a diploma in Petroleum Products Marketing and Distribution and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Elie has worked in the oil trading industry since 1992 handling all operational and claims related matters. Elie commands extensive experience in petroleum products trading and operation. Since joining EMCO he has been assisting shipowners and P&I Clubs for matters in Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Algeria and Morocco. Elie is fluent in English and Arabic and holds Syrian nationality.

MARIA PHOTIOU - Risk Management Executive
|
|
Maria joined Elias Marine Consultants in July 2011 in the Risks and Claims Division after 12 years of working in a Cyprus Insurance company. She works closely with Rony Dergham in guiding the firm's clients on their risk management strategies and procedures as well as handling a variety of H+M insurance and P&I claims. Maria has since also studied and passed the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers exams and obtained her Certificate in Understanding Shipping. Born in the United States, Maria re-located to Cyprus in 1991. Maria is fluent in Greek and English and holds both American and Cypriot nationality.

CHRISTOS BELERIS - Assistant Surveyor
|
|
Christos joined Elias Marine Consultants in November 2010 as an Assistant Surveyor in the Marine Survey Division. He graduated from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens in Naval Architecture in 2010 and conducted his thesis in Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement theory and practice. Christos has also concluded the SDT/IMCS Sherlog training for Hatch Cover Tightness Testing and is a Certified Operator. Christos has also recently studied for and achieved his Certificate in Understanding Shipping from The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Christos, holds Greek nationality and speaks Greek and English.

NADJA PERROT - Assistant Consultant
|
|
Nadja joined Elias Marine Consultants as an Assistant Consultant in September 2011. Nadja completed her Apprenticeship as Shipping management Assistant (Schiffahrtskauffrau) in Hamburg, Germany, during which she gained valuable experience in various shipping sectors by having had the opportunity to work with Shipmanagers, Brokers, Agents and Average Adjusters. She mainly deals with ship and yacht sale and purchase, ship and yacht registration, ship finance and related corporate matters. She also deals with clients on trademark registration. Nadja is fluent in both English and German and holds German nationality.
